Mariel Cornel, Fremont, CA (Bay Area) native has made Los Angeles her home for the past 4 years. Working as a Copyrighter for Forever 21 HQ is her 9-5, but she truly comes to life during her 5-9 as a digital content creator. Growing up in the Catholic Church and attending Catholic school as a child, Mariel was told what she could and could not wear. She felt like an outcast and isolated due to the confines of her schooling. And as a result, this natural born writer expresses herself through creative content on social media and has worked with large brands such as Nordstrom.

Social media platform you can’t live without?

What countries do you plan to visit this year?
Tokyo, Japan and Australia

Tell me about a good memory that is associated with a smell or scent that you remember.
There’s nothing like home cooking. I’m always greeted with a home cooked meal when I go back home. Something about it is comforting and food is what brings us together and creates unity amongst family.

What is your favorite type of wine?

What’s your favorite food to pair with your favorite glass of wine?
Cheese, any kind of cheese. Also, a good charcuterie board goes great with wine.

I’m reading a book all about editorial design and how I can improve my skillset in that area.

Fill in the blanks:

Love smells like…lavender

Happiness smells like…clean linen

Life smells like…vanilla

What’s the last thing you do before you close your eyes?

I disconnect as much as possible. I put my phone in the other room and read. In this day in age, where we’re constantly looking at screens and monitors, it causes anxiety, so I try to disconnect from everything and calm my mind.
